Staffing Manager
Maura Shea grew up in Danbury, Connecticut and that’s where she learned how to manage -- by bossing around her two little sisters. She came to Washington to attend GWU and take full advantage of life in the city. The small-town girl turned sorority-girl hit academic probation at her first opportunity and maintained a close relationship with school authorities throughout her college career.
With a degree in anthropology in her pocket, Maura jumped into her career – as the front desk receptionist of Best Temporaries (now defunct but not because of Maura). Staffing became the career that wouldn’t let her escape. After five years in temporary staffing, having progressed through every position in the company, she was determined to try something new. Research. Boring. Back to staffing. Broke away again to event planning -- successful. But the lure of staffing was too much.
Lucky for us, Maura’s first boss at Best Temporaries was Adrienne Klewens who was the first Staffing manager for RuthiPostowStaffing. Adrienne wanted to retire and we said absolutely not – until she brought us Maura.
Maura enjoys being the Staffing Manager for our temporary clients and strives to make sure our quality remains the best!
Tidbits about Maura:
In a movie about your life, who would play you?
Parker Posey- she rocks! And actually, she has played the role of a temp in the film Clockwatchers so I am pretty sure she is ready to take my character on.
What is the most distinctive thing about you that makes you unique? What makes you – you?
My Hair - it's big and usually wild. I wish it was ok to still have 80's style big hair.
If you could snap your fingers and be somewhere, where would it be?
Italy for sure! Either Rome or Naples or maybe even Capri! Eating something delicious at an outdoor café. Probably enjoying a glass of red wine too! Heck, I’m also having some gelato and the Italian men can’t keep their eyes off me!
What is your greatest extravagance?
Pedicures? Red Wine? Spoiling my dog?
What is your favorite sport?
Baseball- The Boston Red Sox are my team! Go Sox!
Family: I have 2 younger sisters, Mandy and Marny. (Yes, Maura, Mandy and Marny Mitchell-- the M&M Sisters) I always clearly play the role of oldest sister-- I will be older sister to anyone who asks, I will even be your older sister if you don't ask.
What is your favorite rule to break?
Probably speeding. I have a heavy foot. Oops! Last Spring I got a $200 speeding ticket on my way to work on a Monday morning- I was REALLY excited to get staffing!
